Extra Bites
And the winners of The 2026 World Food Photography Awards are...
This week on Cooking the Books, I’m discussing the winners and the runners up in two of the categories of this year’s World Food Photography Awards.
Caroline Kenyon’s founding vision for the awards, “Food is the drumbeat of life – too much, too little, harvest, drought, beauty and horror – it binds us all” is what we dig into, particularly in reference to these images, the runners up and the winners of two of the categories: Cream of the Crop, and the Fortnum and Mason Food at the Table Award.
Runner up in Cream of the Crop category: Edible Jewels by Therese Bourne (Australia)
Winner of Cream of the Crop: Ine Fishing Village, Kyoto, Japan by Alberto Gonzalez
Runner up Fortnum and Mason Food at the Table category: Street Food Influencers by Pingyao Song
Winner: Fortnum and Mason Food at the Table and World Food Photography Awards sponsored by Tenderstem®
A Woman Eats in the Canteen of the Soviet-era Sanatorium, by British photographer Jo Kearney

These photos are incredible! I can really see what you meant about depth and story telling.
Also, the technique used in Edible Jewels blows my mind. Thank you for sharing Gilly, can't wait to listen to your conversation with the judges.
